Anxiety can be defined as a mental health disorder or emotions of worry and fear that are strong enough to influence one’s everyday life. Anxiety is also your body’s normal response to stress or worry.

Anxiety can be regarded as one of the factors that tend to affect the joy and happiness of people today. It also leaves most persons with so many unanswered question. Anxiety creates unrest and lack of peace in the mind.

A person who just lost his job he will be anxious of what the future holds. He may be overcome by worry and fear because he is unsure about his survival. The struggle for survival is one of the major concerns of man today. Life is described as unpredictable in the sense that people go through various circumstances every day. Sometimes they just find themselves in situations they never planned for or imagined.

Symptoms of anxiety

One major symptom of anxiety is restlessness. Restlessness is defined as the state of being of uncomfortable. This can rob a man of peace. Restlessness can be caused by stress and worry. Worry refers to that state where by the mind is not at rest or peace concerning an issues. A person who has written an exam but unsure if he got the answers right will be in a state of unrest because he worries about what he has written. He would anticipate to see his results quickly. On the other hand, Stress can be defined as when an individual works or engages himself so much without giving himself adequate rest. This can cause fatigue. For every time you do hard work and barely have time to relax, you expose yourself to stress it will cause great and adverse effects on your comportment and your well-being as an individual.

Anxiety has also been known for problems such as depression, lack of sleep, fatigue and instability mentally and otherwise.

Possible solutions to anxiety

  • Having a positive mindset and a positive approach to situations Life has its ups and downs. Sometimes we are faced with unpleasant circumstances and other times we are faced with all the good things life has to offer. Some individuals tend to get worried when they have no money or when they are unable to afford certain needs. A positive mindset and approach to situations could go a long way in keeping an individual sane when looking for solution. Staying positive and hopeful is needed daily to overcome life’s hurdles and challenges.
  • The importance of planning. One mistake most individual make is that they usually don’t plan. You may wonder what planning has to do with solving the problem of anxiety. There is a popular quote that says” if you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. This is more like wisdom capsule for success. In planning, one can avoid the fears of failures or fear of reaching and achieving set goals. It is expedient to plan you day, plan your work, set your priorities first. When things don’t go as expected, it’s easier to go back to the drawing board (the plan) and fix what needs to be fixed or change a strategy. This will be a guide to avoid one from engaging in fruitless and unimportant things. Planning can save you from stress and fatigue.
  • Letting go of the past. People tend to have certain experiences in the past which they are unable to let go. They hold these experiences so dearly in their hearts, treasuring them unconsciously. It has built a wall in their minds and they tend to be agitated at any slight instance. Truly, sometimes it’s hard to let go of the past especially one that comes with so much pain. But, letting go bad memories always comes with great peace, ease and healing. Holding on to the past, will rob you of what the future holds for you. Anxiety will not only cage you, it will hinder you from seeing the future as being glorious.
  • Eating healthy meals such as eggs, yoghurt, milk, pumpkin seeds etc. which releases a hormone called endorphin. This hormone is responsible for excitement. Another way to handle anxiety is through exercise this also releases endorphin. Exercise also helps the body and it reduces stress that has been acquired during the day at work. Examples of exercise to do include: Jogging, running and taking a stroll every evening will help.
