At one point or the other, some people battle with Acne (commonly called pimples). It can be distressing, believe me I understand…
But some of the things we think are the causes of pimples are not even it. The major causes of pimples are Excess oil (sebum) production, hair follicles clogged by oil and dead skin cells, bacteria and inflammation.
Some people have pimples before or during their period. Stress and family history can also increase chances of having pimples.
Pimples usually affects the face (especially the nose, chin and forehead), neck, back and chest.
This can affect an individual psychologically (self-esteem and behavior). They’re sometimes associated with depression and even rejection.
Preventing pimples may not be so easy. These tips may help:
- Avoid/ reduce touching the skin on your face with your hands.
- Wash your face at least twice daily with warm water and a mild facial cleanser.
- Always remove your makeup at the end of each day.
- Keep hair and other harmful products away from your face.
If you have pimples
- Avoid touching or picking at your pimples.
- Be careful while shaving the affected area
- Clean items that touch your face regularly, such as cell phones, sunglasses, clothing and pillowcases.
You can also use over-the-counter acne medications that can help bring relief. If you notice it’s not getting any better, please do well to visit you doctor.
